Three works, CPG 2443 through 2445, are very similar, comprising 24, 24, and 26 proverbs, respectively. These brief texts resemble other ancient Christian collections of proverbs, many of which originate with non-Christian authors, but adapted to a Christian context. For specifically, Evagrius writes in the mode of the Pythagorean maxims, highly compressed gnomic sayings.
